西南交通大学土木工程专业已有百年历史，是我国最早开设土木工程专业的学校之一。学校建于1896年，时称山海关北洋铁路官学堂。先后定名为唐山路矿学堂、唐山交通大学，中国交通大学唐山工学院、唐山铁道学院等，是我国首批进入“211”工程的重点大学之一。学校以工为主，工、理、管、文相结合，多学科综合发展。
　　西南交大土木工程设计有限公司是西南交通大学的一个校级产业组织，专门从事桥梁、隧道、道路、建筑工程勘察设计。公司以学校的部分教授和年轻的博士研究生为主体，以强大的土木类专业院系为依托并结合了部分老工程师共同组建成立的，在四川省工商行政管理局注册登记，具有独立法人地位的技术经济实体，注册资金600万元。公司具有建设部颁发的桥梁、隧道、道路、轨道交通设计甲级资质；勘察甲级资质；公路、给排水、建筑乙级设计资质；施工图设计审查一类和国家发展与改革委员会颁发的工程咨询甲级资质。公司全员328人，其中高级技术职称81人，中级技术职称93人，初级技术职称117人，全国注册工程师29人，各专业工种配套齐全。公司自1992年成立以来已完成大型土木工程设计300余项，在设计质量、后期服务等方面都普遍受到建设单位赞誉。

     Civil Engineering Major of South West Jiaotong University has a history of 100 years, and is ranked as one of the earliest universities that offer Civil Engineering Major. South West Jiaotong University founded in 1896 was then entitled Shanhaiguan Beiyang Offical Railway School. Later, it took various names such as Tangshang Railway-Mine School, Tangshan Jiaotong University, Tangshan Engineering Institute of China Jiaotong University, Tangshan Railway Institute etc. South West Jiaotong Universityis is one of the key universities which was first granted to undertake “211 Project” offered by China Education Department, following the principle of multi-specialty development that majors in engineering combined with sciences, management, and art and humanity disciplines.

       Civil Engineering Design Cooperation Ltd. of SouthWestJiaotongUniversity is a university-level industrial entity belonging to SouthWestJiaotongUniversity. It is specialized in reconnaissance and design of bridge, tunnel, highway, rail transportation and all kinds of construction projects. The cooperation is founded on the research resources of part of professors and young doctors with support from all departments in Civil Engineering School and part of young and middle-aged engineers. The cooperation registers in Sichuan Industry and Business Administration Bureau with registration fund of RMB 10 million, and makes it a technological-oriented economy entity with an independent legal-representative qualification.

          Civil Engineering Design Cooperation Ltd. of South West Jiaotong University has acquired first-rate design certificate for bridge, tunnel, highway and rail transportation granted by Construction Department of the state, first-rate certification for reconnaissance, second-rate design certificate for highway, water supply & drainage and construction, and first-rate certificate for working drawing & design checking and engineering consultant qualification issued by State Development and Reform Committee. The cooperation consists of 328 staff members, among whom 81 have senior professional titles, 93 have medieval professional titles, 117 have elementary professional titles, 29 have state registered-engineer qualification, and the staff is diversified in all types of work. Since the founding of the cooperation in 1992, it has fulfilled over 300 great civil engineering project designs, and all the designs have been appreciated by those construction units in terms of excellent design quality and post service.
